A Meta ads report template your clients will actually read
A good Meta ads client report leads with the outcome the client cares about (leads, sales, cost per result), explains the why in plain words, and ends with what you are doing next, not a wall of forty metrics.
Most Meta ads reports fail for the same reason: they show the agency's numbers, not the client's outcome. This is the template we use, the sections that matter, and the metrics to lead with, so your client finishes the report knowing exactly what they got for their money.
What goes in a Meta ads client report
- The headline outcome. One number the client actually cares about, up top: leads, sales, revenue, or cost per result. Not impressions.
- The plain English summary. Two or three sentences: what happened this month, in words, in their language. This is the part clients read.
- The results that matter to them. Spend, results, cost per result, and the trend versus last month. Three to five numbers, not forty.
- What worked. The best performing campaign or ad, and why, in a sentence.
- What is next. What you are testing or changing next month. This is what makes a client feel looked after.
- A place to respond. Somewhere the client can ask a question or say yes, so the report becomes a conversation, not a one way PDF.
The Meta metrics to lead with (and the ones to bury)
- Lead with: results (leads, purchases, conversions), cost per result, spend, and the month on month trend.
- Support with: reach, click through rate, and the top ad, only if they add to the story.
- Bury or leave out: raw impressions, frequency, and the forty other columns Ads Manager gives you. They are noise to a client.
Two ways to use this
The manual way
Copy the structure above into your own Canva or Sheets template and fill it in each month. Free, but it is a rebuild every time, and there is no way for the client to respond on it.
The Clientdeck way
Connect the client's Meta account once, and this whole report writes itself in the client's brand, with the outcome up top and the plain English summary already drafted, ready for you to review and send. Your client reads it, comments, and approves it on the page, no login.

What metrics should a Meta ads report include?
Lead with results (leads, purchases or conversions), cost per result, spend, and the month on month trend. Support with reach, click through rate and the top ad only if they add to the story. Leave out raw impressions, frequency and the other columns Ads Manager gives you, they are noise to a client.
How often should I send a Meta ads report?
Monthly is standard for most agency client relationships, timed to line up with the billing cycle so the report and the invoice tell the same story. Faster moving accounts sometimes add a short weekly check in, but the full report with the plain English summary and what is next still runs monthly.
